Motorola’s New Flip Phones: Everything You Need to Know About the 2025 Razr Lineup

Are you looking for a stylish foldable smartphone? Motorola has just expanded its popular Razr series with three exciting new models. Let’s take a closer look at what these flip-style phones have to offer.

Three New Models to Choose From

On April 24, Motorola announced its latest generation of foldable smartphones, growing its lineup from two to three models:

  • The standard Razr
  • The Razr Plus
  • The brand-new Razr Ultra

All three phones feature the classic clamshell design that Razr fans love, but with several improvements over last year’s models.

Stronger Hinges and Better Batteries

One of the biggest concerns with foldable phones is durability. Motorola has addressed this with titanium-reinforced hinges in all three models. These new hinges can reportedly handle 35% more folds than previous versions.

Battery life has also been improved across the board:

  • Standard Razr: 4,500mAh battery
  • Razr Plus: 4,000mAh battery
  • Razr Ultra: 4,700mAh battery

These larger batteries should help keep your phone running longer between charges.

Display Features

The standard Razr keeps the same 3.6-inch cover display as last year’s model. However, both the Razr Plus and Razr Ultra feature larger 4-inch cover screens, making it easier to use apps without opening the phone.

Better Protection Against Dust

Similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 6, the premium Razr Plus and Razr Ultra models come with an IP48 rating. This means they offer protection against dust particles larger than 1 millimeter, helping your phone stay cleaner and potentially last longer.

Powerful Performance

The Razr Ultra is the performance champion of the lineup, featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. According to Motorola, this chip offers:

  • 45% CPU performance boost
  • 40% better graphics for gaming

The standard Razr uses a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X processor, which Motorola says delivers 15% better performance than the previous generation, with a focus on AI capabilities.

Stylish Color Options

Motorola has partnered with Pantone to offer some eye-catching color options:

Razr Ultra:

  • Scarab
  • Mountain Trail
  • Cabaret
  • Rio Red

The Ultra also comes in four unique finishes: soft-touch Alcantara, real wood, satin-inspired, and leather-inspired.

Standard Razr:

  • Gibraltar Sea
  • Spring Bud
  • Lightest Sky
  • Parfait Pink

Razr Plus:

  • Hot Pink
  • Midnight Blue
  • Mocha Mousse (brown)

Camera Capabilities

The standard Razr features a dual-camera system with:

  • 50MP main camera
  • 13MP ultra-wide lens with Macro Vision

Motorola has also added new camera features like Group Shot (which captures multiple frames in a second) and Action Shot for clear photos of moving subjects.

Smart AI Features

All three new Razr phones come with advanced AI features, including:

  • Catch Me Up: Helps you quickly get updated on what you’ve missed
  • Pay Attention: Focuses your attention on important information
  • Remember This: Saves important details for later

The phones will also include real-time screen recognition for smart recommendations and a feature called Smart Connect that lets you share your screen to other devices with simple voice or text commands.

Additionally, the new Razr phones will have access to Google’s Gemini and Gemini Live features directly from the external display.

Availability and Pricing

In the US, the new Razr lineup will be available for pre-order starting May 7, with official release on May 15. International release dates and pricing, including for India, have not yet been announced.

Should You Upgrade?

If you’re a fan of foldable phones, Motorola’s new Razr lineup offers several compelling reasons to consider an upgrade:

  • Stronger hinges for better durability
  • Larger batteries for improved battery life
  • More powerful processors
  • Enhanced camera features
  • Advanced AI capabilities

With three different models to choose from, there’s likely a Razr that fits your needs and budget.
